Try this creamy and deliciously sweet maple syrup custard recipe. Maple syrup is an excellent substitute for sugar in dessert recipe!
Ingredients (9 servings)
- 4 cups (1 litre) whole or 2% milk
- 6 large eggs
- 3/4 cup (180 ml) sugar
- 1 tbsp (15 ml) vanilla
- Maple syrup
- Favourite fruit
Instructions
- In heavy saucepan, heat milk to just before boiling point.
- In large bowl, beat together eggs, sugar and vanilla.
- Slowly add hot milk, stirring. Pour into 8″x 8″ glass or ceramic oven-proof dish.
- Set in larger pan half-filled with hot water.
- Bake at 350 °F (180 °C) until center is set (inserted knife comes out clean)-about 60 to 75 minutes.
- Serve thoroughly chilled, cut into squares, with the fresh fruit and maple syrup on top.
