Apple and Maple Pie
Ingredients (8 servings)
Crust
- 2/3 cup of Graham cracker crumbs
- 1/2 cup of whole wheat flour
- 1/2 cup of whole wheat flour
- 1/2 cup of whole ground almonds
- 2 tablespoons of maple syrup
- 2 tablespoons of butter
- 1 pinch of salt
Filling
- 4 cups of apples, peeled and sliced
- 1 cup of natural yoghurt
- 1/3 cup of maple syrup
- 1/3 cup of whole wheat flour
- 1 egg
Garnish
- 1/4 cup of pure maple sugar nuggets
- 1 tablespoon of pine nuts
- Cinnamon
Method
- Preheat oven to 160°C (325°F).
- Mix all crust ingredients in a bowl and press onto the bottom of a 23cm (9oz.) pie plate.
- Bake for 12 minutes.
- Mix the filling ingredients in a bowl. Spread over the bottom of piecrust.
- Sprinkle with maple sugar chips, pine nuts and cinnamon. Bake in the oven for 45 minutes at 190°C (375°F).
